Underwater photography

Do you consider yourself a water baby? Is your favorite place the beach? Do you dream of swimming like a mermaid, or flowing peacefully in the sweet serenity and buoyancy of water? Water is an inspiration to us- hearing it, smelling it in the air, playing in it, walking next to it, painting it, surfing, swimming or fishing in it. There is just something about water that delights us and inspires us (Pablo Neruda: “I need the sea because it teaches me”). It consoles us and intimidates us (Vincent van Gogh: “The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore”). It creates feelings of awe, peace, and joy (The Beach Boys: “Catch a wave, and you’re sitting on top of the world”). But in almost all cases, when humans think of water—or hear water, or see water, or get in water, even taste and smell water—they feel something. Its our most abundant and precious resource.

I would absolutely consider myself a water baby. A beach babe, if you will. A lot of my favorite photography sessions include the beach as a gorgeous background. I love photography and I love water, and mixing the two with Shutterpix Underwater photography has been such an exciting adventure. There is so much to learn, as it is a whole new world underwater! The lighting is different and there is even natural color distortion to combat. I found that using a wide lens is the best way to shoot underwater and I am learning more with every shoot. For my photos I use an underwater housing with my Nikon D810 camera. Housing is the term for a case that encloses a dry camera so that it can be used underwater. I have plans to change up my housing and am excited to experiment with my new wide angle lens!

Underwater photography is a type of art form that offers exciting and rare photographic experiences. Any session offered by Shutterpix, can also be done with Shutterpix Underwater. Get your family jumping in for a summer photo shoot, embrace your lover in an underwater couple or engagement photo session, get your senior that spends most of their time at the beach underwater for a senior photo session. I love a good fantasy shoot, where you can envision yourself as a mermaid for a day, you can even bring your pets!

Come try out your underwater skills with me, and contact Shutterpix Underwater photography today!
